A thought to the future.
"When I [we] set out I [we] had no idea just one year later we would be where we are and loved be so many. Of course, going back to that fateful day of me making the first batch, packaging and bringing it to the farmer's market I had hopes and maybe even a small glimpse of where this might go. But the level of love and the amount of knowledge I [we] have experienced in the last year could have never come close to anything I might have thought to happen. It humbles me..."
"As for the future... and I do have others ask me where we are going, and here is my reply... 'This is the position we have taken, wherever the public takes us, we will follow. The public continues to be very good to us. They have taken us this far and we simply can't wait to see what happens in the years to come.' I thank you all for opening your minds and hearts to us! Here's to our bright future together." Quoted by Kat Cloran, owner and Chief Guru, on our one year anniversary in the granola biz.
Our Story.

In early October 2008, Katie-Kat Cloran decided [on a whim] to bring a half dozen bags of her famous granola, which at that point was only famous with close family and friends, to Havelock Farmer's Market in Lincoln, Nebraska. The granola being such an after thought, our name had to be recreated twice until coming to the final Groovy Guru Granola decision.
Every week it grew in popularity until a few Lincoln business folk caught word of the stuff and began buying the granola for clients. That's when planets collided and Gary Gandhi became an instrumental voice in Groovy Guru Granola. Kat and Gary found common ground in their love of fizzy sodas, environmental action and love of groovin' to the music of 1960's.
Within a month of bringing a little more than a few handfuls of granola to the farmer's market, Groovy Guru Granola blasted into local grocery stores, changed it's packaging and began taking the help of dozens of willing volunteers.
Today Groovy Guru Granola still holds hands with their local farmers and their beliefs in a better world. Both Gary and Kat are still the voices of this growing granola company, but still refuse to call themselves anything other than very part-time co-owners due to their belief in this company being the 'peoples.'
After Gary's move to Florida and much conversation a deal was struck that Gary would continue as the man behind the Guru's curtain.
Since then Kat has taken over which she will be the first to tell you, it wasn't much of a leap to make. But her being the most visible and most hands on of the two, not one bag is put on a store shelf or an event scheduled without her fingers being in it somehow. She is now fondly known simply as the "granola girl" to many and she's alright with that.
Groovy Guru Granola is still proudly produced in Lincoln, Nebraska and currently all three flavors are sold at several locations around town.
"Creating Change. Making Mother Earth Smile."
Before we decided to go public with our granola, we wanted to create a granola that not only tasted fantastic but also did good in the process.
As individuals in this company we already had values to support our ideas. We support our local farmers and care deeply for our environment, both local and world wide. So it was no surprise that we set out to create a company that would do the same.
We think it's important to know where and how our food is produced and we are proud to have wonderful personal relationships with organic farmers here in Nebraska. We also support the Fair Treatment of workers overseas by buying from companies who only deal with Certified growers.
We care deeply about what is currently happening with our environment and believe strongly in the act of recycling. That is why all our packaging is 100% chemical-free, recyclable or bio-degradable.
We believe only the very best comes from what Mother Earth gives and we want to honor Her efforts.
